If any guy out there is lucky enough to land a date with Reese Witherspoon, here's a tip: don't correct her grammar! Witherspoon, 34, says that a blind date once ruined his chances immediately by criticizing the way she speaks.
"I had someone correct my grammar on a blind date once, and I knew within the first ten minutes that the date was over," the actress recalls.
Although she doesn't remember exactly what the offending word was, she's pretty sure it's something that went hand-in-hand with her Southern roots.
"I probably said 'ain't,'" she says. "Just don't correct my grammar. I'm from Tennessee. I probably say everything wrong."
We're glad to hear that Reese Witherspoon won't tolerate guys who condescend to her! As an Academy Award winner, America's perennial sweetheart and one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, she's clearly no dummy.
Another thing Witherspoon won't tolerate: being paired with a co-star who's not smoking hot! In her next film, How Do You Know, the actress has to choose between the affections of Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson. And in 2010's Water for Elephants, Witherspoon is romantically paired with the ten-years-younger Robert Pattinson. When asked recently if she has hot co-stars written into her contracts, Witherspoon joked that, yes, of course she does!
"Someone's gotta do it," she teases. "It's like America's Test Kitchen, but for making out with hot co-stars. I do it for the girls. I love my job. They're all really good guys." And I know all their girlfriends."
Witherspoon, the mother of two children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, has been dating agent Jim Toth since January. Her romantic comedy How Do You Know opens December 17th.
