Denise Richards: Charlie Sheen & I Had a "Beautiful Love Story"

Denise Richards: Charlie Sheen & I Had a "Beautiful Love Story"

Denise Richards doesn't regret her marriage to Charlie Sheen. Sure, just a few months ago, Sheen was accusing his ex-wife of dognapping and cursing her out during his Torpedo of Truth tour. Still, in her upcoming memoir The Real Girl Next Door (out July 26), Richards, 40, has chosen to recall happier times with Sheen, 45.

"There was a beautiful love story between he and I," Richards tells Us Weekly. "And I know that it went the way it went, but I talk more about how I felt during that time because I feel like a lot of women can relate to that."

"I get into the good stuff about my marriage because people have only gotten the rotten stuff," explains Richards, whose ruthless custody battle with Sheen was in the headlines for years after their 2006 divorce.

Richards, who now has full custody of Lola, 6, and Sammy, 7, says she didn't write the book to drag her daughters' father through the mud.

"I talk about how (co-parenting) is a struggle and we had one of the worst divorces, so if we get into a good place, that's great," says the actress.

Though Richards has stood by Sheen through most of his tumultuous year, she admitted in April that his behavior was taking a toll on her. "We're not in the best place right now, to be honest," said Richards, expressing concern about Sheen's meltdown and his influence on their children. But surprisingly, she's still Team Charlie when it comes to Two and a Half Men.

"Nobody can replace Charlie," Denise told Us. "The show was written for him and he was brilliant at it... I am sad to see Charlie not on the show, but it is what it is."

That said, she thinks that Sheen's replacement, Ashton Kutcher, will "make it his own," and the show will go on without Charlie. Just like she has.
