Brad Pitt in 'Moneyball' Trailer

Brad Pitt in 'Moneyball' Trailer

How do you make a movie about baseball statistics entertaining? Start by casting Brad Pitt and make him wear lots of tight T-shirts,  throw in a great supporting cast, hire the screenwriter behind The Social Network, and you're looking at Moneyball. Watch the highly anticipated first trailer below!

Moneyball, costarring Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman with a script by Aaron Sorkin, is based on the 2003 nonfiction bestseller about how the use of statistics changed baseball. Pitt plays Billy Beane, the former pro ballplayer who became manager of the Oakland A's in the 1990s. Unable to afford any big-name power players for his team, Beane developed a radical new approach to drafting: by analyzing past game statistics, he built a team of lesser players whose individual strengths formed the perfect team. By building a strong team without a big budget, Beane revolutionized the game. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the real Beane doesn't really look like Brad Pitt -- but judging from this picture, he could have given Pitt a run for his money back in the '80s!

The film will be a change of pace for Brad Pitt, who hasn't really made a serious sports movie before (unless you count Fight Club). At the moment, the actor is filming something a little more up his usual quirky ally: World War Z, a horror film about the zombie apocalypse. The film is shooting in Malta, where the six Jolie-Pitt kids have been spotted cleaning out the local toy stores while their dad is working!

Moneyball hits theater on Sept. 23.
