Hollywood loves any story with a princess, a villain and a "happily ever after" -- so it's no surprise that a new Snow White and the Seven Dwarves movie is currently in the works. What is surprising is the actress who's being courted to play the fair-skinned heroine: Twilight's Kristen Stewart. According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers of the new Snow White film have screen-tested tons of actresses, but they've got their hearts set on 20-year-old Stewart. Now they're just hoping she says yes.
Okay -- we love K-Stew, but let's just state the obvious here: She's not a Snow White type. Anne Hathaway is Snow White. Rachel McAdams is Snow White. Kristen Stewart is Snow White's lesser-known sister, Muted Gray, who refuses to go to balls because she thinks petticoats are stupid.
Then again, is probably not the same Snow White story we're all expecting. Titled Snow White and the Huntsman, the new version apparently has Snow taking matters into her own hands; the huntsman, who is sent by the evil queen Ravenna to kill Snow instead goes all Mr. Miyagi on her, teaching her to fight back and survive. (Too bad she still has that pesky apple allergy.) The script must be intriguing, because the tentative cast is pretty impressive: Viggo Mortensen as huntsman, and Charlize Theron as the nasty queen. (There's no word on who will be playing the seven dwarves or Prince Charming. Suggestions?)
If Stewart does accept the role, she'll be one of many actresses taking the fairy tale plunge -- including Amanda Seyfriend (this year's Red Riding Hood), Mia Wasikowska (last year's Alice in Wonderland), and -- rumor has it -- Angelina Jolie in a 2013 Sleeping Beauty remake.
